We assert that the message of Muhammad (Mohammad) as presented in the Qur'an is a false Gospel. According to the Qur'an: "Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah." (Surah 48:29.) Here are a list of 12 reasons:
Twelve Reasons
Reason 1.
There is no historical claim or presentation of fulfilled prophecies supporting and validating Muhammad as the messenger of God. Simple reason dictates that if Muhammad actually came from God, the least thing that God could do to support His claim would be to pre-announce his coming, or give him prophecies that come to pass, or grant him power to perform some miracles to validate his claims. None of these three ways exist to validate Muhammad's claims as a prophet! There were no predictions about the arrival of Buddha, Confucius, Lao-tze, Muhammed, or any other claimant than Jesus Christ. Muhammad spoke no prophecy, not even one was recorded or asserted.
But we learn that, "Early Muslim historians, in an astounding display of honesty and integrity, admitted that their prophet had delivered the Satanic Verses to his listeners." (The Deuteronomy Deductions) This declares the opposite of God's standard of holiness and fidelity as a prophet. All of God's prophets denounced and spoke against idolatry.
"For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do." (Deut 18:14)
"But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die." (Deut 18:20)
Reason 2.
There is no historical claim or presentation of miracles supporting and validating Muhammad as the messenger of God. Not one claim is made for any miracle power like that which was granted to the early disciples and apostles of Jesus Christ. Just the self-made assertion that he is the prophet of [G]od.
Would not a great prophet have great evidence? Moses, Elijah and Elisha did. [See: Miracles of Moses in Exodus; A Double Portion of Thy Spirit] In contrast to Muhammad, Jesus went about Israel during His ministry and validated it with numerous miracles in each new territory and ended His life repairing the ear of Malchus. (Matt 12:15; Luke 6:19; Acts 10:38; Mark 14:46-48; Luke 22:50-51; John 18:9-11; etc.) [See: The Journeys of our Lord Jesus, What Miracles Did Jesus Perform?]
Not only did Jesus produce miracles he gave this power to his close disciples, too. In God's wisdom miraculous gifts were necessary to establish and protect the church during its infancy in a very broken world. Some of them were for evangelism, preaching, teaching, development and growth of Christ's church. The speaking gifts were used to establish a local church body, educate and develop believers, prepare and establish "faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also" (2 Tim 2:2). They were and are used to encourage and strengthen all believers for their fruitful use of their common gifts and their charismatic gifts since these would endure throughout the Gospel age. [See: Gifts of the Holy Spirit (5 page series)]
"Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." (Eph 4:8-16)
These scriptures declare an end to miraculous spiritual gifts and the enduring of other things (faith, hope, love) that even reach into God's kingdom. Some gifts were temporary and some were not. The miraculous spiritual gifts were used when starting the church to show the authority and validity of the message and the messengers. God used miracles for the purpose of establishing the foundation (Luke 9:26; John 14:26; Acts 4:2; 5:21; 10:34-43; 11:26; 20:19-21; 1 Cor 3:11; Gal 1:12; 1 Thes 1:9; 1 John 3:23; etc.), function (Acts 5:42; 16:10; Rom 10:15; 12:1-2; 1 Cor 16:15, 19; Eph 1:3-14; Col 2:7; Heb 6:1-2; 10:25; etc.), practice (Eph 4:28; Col 2:11; 1 Thes 4:11; 1 Tim 3:1-16; 5:1-25; 2 Tim 3:9-10; Phil 1:2; Heb 12:11-13; James 4:8; 1 Pet 1:14-16; 4:1-19; 1 John 3:11; 4:7, etc.), and direction of the church (Matt 28:19; Mark 16:15) and to confirm the word taught to them (Rom 2:16; 16:25; 1 John 3:11) until it was fully written. Now we have the whole counsel of God with the complete written New Testament joined to the Old Testament Holy Scriptures.
Acts 13:29; 24:14; Rom 1:17; 3:10; 10:15; 14:11; 15:4; 1 Cor 10:11; Gal 3:10, 13; et cetera refer to usage of the Old Testament scriptures while Acts 15:23; 21:25; Rom 15:15; 16:22; 1 Cor 4:6; 5:9, 11; 2 Cor 2:3-4; 3:3, 6; 7:8, 12; 10:10; Gal 6:11; Eph 3:3; 2 Thes 2:2; Phil 1:21; Heb 13:22; 1 Pet 5:12; 2 Pet 3:15; 1 John 2:14, 21; 2:26; 5:13; 2 John 1:5; 3 John 1:9 refer to the writings that will form the New Testament scriptures.
Reason 3.
Muhammad's message does not align with that of Jesus, who was raised from the dead as validation of God's approval. Jesus began His ministry teaching disciples and continued His message of "repent and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:14-15) until the end of His ministry (Matt 11:20; Luke 15:10; 24:47; Matt 21:32). When God sent His message through messengers at Pentecost (Acts 2) it was in full accord with Jesus' message while He taught them here on earth. Because He was guiding the disciples and apostles now through the Holy Spirit (John 16:7-14) the message was one and was consistent.
"And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." (Acts 5:42)
"Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." (Acts 20:28)
"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ." (Eph 4:11-13)
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." (Col 3:16)
"If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come." (1 Tim 4:6-8)
"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also." (2 Tim 2:2)
Will another message or another gospel be consistent with the first message? The Qur'an has another message, i.e. submission and teaches another behavior. This is shown in the five actions of the Five Pillars of Islam. [Note: These are five actions that neither need nor reflect a change in heart or character. These reflect a submission to a rigid ritual structure. See: Why Sharia Law Is So Dangerous, The Case Against Islam; Islam Versus Christianity]
Reason 4.
The implication of ongoing messages from new messengers, such as Muhammad and others, with another or additional gospel is that God could not and did not know what He was doing and therefore had to fix His former mistakes! It means that Paul's words in 2 Corinthians 1:20, "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen," or his emphatic words in Galatians 1:6-8, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed," are just another lie. Will God then change His mind and send another message when he already said that He preached this same gospel unto Abraham? (Gal 3:8; Gen 12:3) This cannot be for God has said:
"Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid!" (Rom 7:13)
"What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid." (Rom 9:14)
"Be ye holy; for I am holy." (Lev 20:7; 1 Pet 1:16)
"Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; in hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; but hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour." (Titus 1:1-3; 2 Tim 3:15-17)
The spirit that seeks to change the word of God is Satan himself. (John 8:44; 12:40; Matt 24:24; Jude 1:3; 2 John 1:7)
"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2 Cor 4:4)
Reason 5.
When is the end of presenting the expanded Gospel message from God finished? The New Testament gospel, according to Paul in Galatians 3:8, is the expanded message first stated in Genesis 12:3. It was veiled when given to Abraham but unveiled as explained by Christ and the Apostles. (Titus 1:1-3; 2 Tim 3:15-17) How many New Messages about salvation through faith in "one sacrifice for all" (Heb 10:12) can be given?
Either the message of the birth, life, ministry and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (4 Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) (validated by numerous prophecies and recorded details) presenting Him as the eternal "once for all" sacrifice (Heb 10:10) is sufficient or we have been severely deluded and it was good for nothing (1 Cor 15:18-20). This Gospel message is an all or nothing proposition (Rom 6:9-10) and there cannot be ongoing new messages from a new prophet that replaces Jesus.
"Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:10-12)
Reason 6.
The Apostles preached and lived a new life (2 Cor 5:17) in Christ according to "the spirit of holiness." (Rom 1:3-7)
"If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: that ye put off concerning the former conversation [conduct] the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind." (Eph 4:21-23)
"Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds." (2 Cor 12:12)
"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." (1 Pet 1:13-16)
For this Gospel from Christ has called us to renounce, repent and depart from: "Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful," etc.
"For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." (Gal 3:27)
"And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." (Eph 4:24)
"And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." (Col 3:10)
"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness." (Col 3:12-14)
Note that the actions of Christian belief require and reflect a change in heart and character. These include: believe Jesus is the Savior sent of God (John 5:24; Matt 10:32), repent of and make restitution for sins (Luke 15:7; 19:8; Acts 20:21), resist those kinds of thoughts and behaviors (Matt 5:28; 2 Tim 2:22; Heb 12:4), accept the Holy Spirit to transform us from our former self into Christ's likeness (Matt 7:21-27; Rom 8:15; 1 Cor 2:12), give testimony of God changing us (Luke 8:39; Acts 15:4), seek baptism (if possible, Acts 2:38; 10:47-48; 19:5), speak honestly and live righteously (1 Thes 2:1-4; Eph 4:15, 25), love others and serve them by showing compassion and mercy (John 13:35; Rom 12:10; 13:8; James 4:17), promote God's word (Col 3:16), teach others about the need for salvation through Christ's sacrifice on our behalf (Acts 10:42; 20:21), endure hardship (2 Tim 2:3; Heb 12:3; 1 Pet 2:9), and continue faithful unto death (Matt 10:22; Rev 2:10).
Will another gospel, i.e. the teachings of Muhammad, give us another holiness, different than departing from these wicked things? And how carnal, debased and ugly will that one be? Therefore, watch out for those "who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen." (Rom 1:25)
Reason 7.
Muhammad's life was not recorded as a life of love, caring and compassion, but quite the opposite in subterfuge, wars, adultery, child marriage, and other actions of unrighteousness. Muhammad led 27 military campaigns against innocent villages and caravans & planned 38 others. ("Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah. Those who follow him are merciful to one another, but ruthless to unbelievers." Surah 48:29.)
The hadiths portray Muhammad in raw, unflattering terms, including revealing his suicide attempts (Sahih Bukhari 9:111), where he is ordered to kill unbelievers (hadith 1:24-25), and the beheading of more than 500 men and boys after the Battle of the Trench and the selling of their wives and children into slavery. (Nabeel Qureshi, Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus, 2014 Grand Rapids, MI, Zondervan, 215-218; A. Guillaume, trans., The Life of Muhammad: A Translation of Ibn Ishaq's Sirat Rasul Allah New York: Oxford University Press, 2002, p. 464)
In 1 Corinthians chapter 13 verse 13 Paul uses the term "now abides" or "now remains". Regardless of how we interpret verses 9-12, verse 13 tells us that faith, hope and love remain after the miraculous gifts of prophecies, tongues and knowledge named in verse 8 cease. God requires each believer to maintain faith, hope and love whether in the early or the later church period.
First Corinthians 13:8 states that love, the greatest of these, will never fail. That is because every gift given to and for the church is to be exercised in love for God and for fellow man. We have the record of the Apostles' work and teaching, of their use of miracles and other gifts to plant, build, develop, grow and protect the church. Their love continues to bless the church today as shown through: 1) their use of miraculous spiritual gifts, 2) their travelling ministry of teaching the gospel, 3) their pleading for the sanctification of the believers, and 4) their afflictions and sufferings endured for and with the early church. All of this was to build up the the early and later church disciples in Christ so that they may be presented faultless before God as those who love one another.
"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone." (Eph 2:19-20)
"But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life." (Rom 6:22)
"Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death." (Rom 7:4-5)
"Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness." (2 Cor 9:10)
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." (Gal 5:22-23)
"For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth." (Eph 5:9)
"Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God." (Php 1:11)
"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son." (Col 1:9-13)
"And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: to the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints." 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13
"By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name." (Heb 13:15)
The fruit of love is evident because Jesus said that the world will recognize His church by their fruit.
"Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." (Matt 7:16-20)
"Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit." (Matt 12:33)
Paul affirms the same saying, "Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (2 Cor 11:1-3)
Reason 8.
Muhammad testified in numerous ways that the Old and New Testament documents existed and were available. Moreover he testified that these were given by God. Why then did he seek to replace God's word?
The Qur'an asserts the injil (the gospels of the New Testament) is the word of Allah and thus to be believed. Surah 5:46-48 and 5:66-68 say to 'judge by the injil' showing it was currently available in that period. Surah 2:136; 3:3; 5:48; 29:46 confirm the known presence of both the Old Testament and New Testament of the Bible AND their integrity. [See: al-Nasafi's commentary on Surah al-Maida 5:43-48; www.answering-islam.org/Shamoun/bible_authentic2.htm]
"It is written" (found 80 times in the Bible) is the highest form of retention of valuable and historical information. Adam and his offspring wrote of events and their lineage, Noah and his offspring wrote of events and their lineage, Abraham and his offspring wrote and recorded for us their history. Moses took these former writings and collated, organized and codified them in the book of Genesis and then he added the historical account of Israel in Egypt and their wilderness experience up to his death in the books of Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Joshua, in his book, recorded Moses death and the early years of Israel in the promised land of Canaan, Samuel recorded the books of Judges and Samuel, and likewise the prophets through Malachi. Then the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was recorded by the very people who directly heard and observed Jesus (Luke 1:1-4), including by Mark (Barnabas nephew, Acts 12:25; Colossians 4:10; and possibly Peter's nephew, Acts 12:12), or gathered the information from observers and carefully recorded it as done by Luke. In the same manner the Holy Spirit directed the record of the initiation, infancy, direction and early journey of Christ's church. The early churches eagerly desired to hold unto and pass to each other the letters and epistles from the Apostles and Elders (Acts 15:23; 18:27; 1 Cor 7:1; 16:3; 2 Cor 3:1; 7:8; 10:9; 10:10-11; Gal 6:11; Eph 3:3; Col 4:16; 1 Thes 5:27; 2 Thes 2:2; Heb 13:22, 3 John 1:9; etc.). This compilation that we call the New Testament was written (from about 45 to 96A.D.) before the last Apostle, John, died about 100A.D. The codification of the details and teaching was started by about 45A.D. (Acts 15:23) and completed, before 70 years had passed after Jesus died, and was within the lifetime of the earliest believers or their direct disciples (1st person and 2nd person witnesses). Therefore, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit the introductory verbal proclamation of the gospel message, i.e. the expanded gospel (Mark 1:1, 15; Matt 4:23; Acts 8:25; 16:10; Rom 1:1, 16; 2:16; 16:25; 1 Cor 14:37; 1 Tim 1:11; 2 Tim 2:8; 1 Pet 4:6; etc.), comes to an end and it is codified for us to examine to give us an assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ. (2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:20-21) [See 2. above]
"But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away." (1 Cor 13:10)
Reason 9.
Since we believe that Jesus intended to fulfill His word to continue to guide His disciples (Matt 28:20) we also expect He would guide the assembly and completion of the New Testament. That means there would be a Revelation of God's Word and a Confirmation of the Word.
John 14:26 and John 16:13 tell us of the Revelation of God's Word, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." and "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."
In Galatians 1:12 Paul says this of the Gospel message, "For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." and again in Ephesians 3:1-5 he says, "For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, if ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit."
Mark 16:20; Acts 20:27; Hebrews 2:3 and Jude 1:3 tell us of the Confirmation of the Word (New Testament), "And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen."; "For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God."; "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him." and "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."
John, as the last living Apostle, finished the work given to the Apostles when he said in Revelation 22:17-19 "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
Reason 10.
Muhammad claims that the message of God is incomplete. He asserts that he is the last prophet and bears the last message, but the New Testament scriptures show that the whole body of scriptures are being completed in the Apostle's lifetimes. [See: 2.; 8. and 9. above]
With a finished message (Acts 14:22; 20:27; Eph 6:11; Php 1:27; Col 1:23; 2:7; 2 Thes 2:15; 1 Tim 4:1; 2 Tim 4:7; Titus 1:13; Jude 1:3;etc.) Paul's words in 1 Timothy 4:13 become important when we read, "Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine." and again in Colossians 4:16, "And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea." It also makes sense of Paul's warning in 2 Corinthians 11:3-5, "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." and again in Galatians 1:6-7, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ." Apostle John confirms the same when he records for us Revelation 14:6-7, "I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."
Reason 11.
How could we now obey this invitation extended by Apostle John, "And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" (Rev 22:17), if the events, fulfilled prophecies, teachings, manner of life and important words necessary for our salvation were not already completed, recorded, and wholly sufficient for us?
Reason 12.
Muhammad claims to be the last prophet, that he superceded Jesus as a greater prophet. The Quran, spoken by Muhammad, claims that Muhammad is the seal or the last of the prophets. Surah 33:40 Hilali-Khan
(Muhammad is not the father of any man among you) i.e. Zayd, (but he is the messenger of Allah) but Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah (and the Seal of the Prophets) with him Allah has sealed the advent of prophets, such that there is no prophet after him; (and Allah is Aware of all things) of your words and works. (Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn Abbâs, source)
The hadiths make the same claim for Muhammad to be the final prophet:
The Prophet said, "The Israelis used to be ruled and guided by prophets: Whenever a prophet died, another would take over his place. There will be no prophet after me, but there will be Caliphs who will increase in number." The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What do you order us (to do)?" He said, "Obey the one who will be given the pledge of allegiance first. Fulfil their (i.e. the Caliphs) rights, for Allah will ask them about (any shortcoming) in ruling those Allah has put under their guardianship." Narrated Abu Huraira (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 661)
Allah's Apostle said, "I have five names: I am Muhammad and Ahmad; I am Al-Mahi through whom Allah will eliminate infidelity; I am Al-Hashir who will be the first to be resurrected, the people being resurrected there after; and I am also Al-'Aqib (i.e. There will be no prophet after me)." Narrated Jubair bin Mutim (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 732)
The Qur'an claims Jesus (Isa) was raised to life again. Surah 3:55; 4:158-9; 19:33-34; (Surah 22:1; 81:1-7; 36: 48-52 3:55) Islam, in the hadiths, affirms the resurrection of Jesus, that he has risen from the dead and entered heaven. [See extensive Quranic and hadith quotes confirming this belief: Is Muhammad the Last Prophet?]
Question: Why is prophet Muhammad still dead while the prophet Jesus (Isa) died and rose again? But Jesus returns again to the earth and since he was a prophet and comes again after Muhammad, Jesus the Christ is indeed the Last and Greatest Prophet.
"And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people." (Luke 24:19)
"Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world." (John 6:14)
"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord." (Eph 2:19-21)
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." (John 14:3)
"And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels" (2 Thes 1:7) [1 Cor 15:23; 1 Thes 2:19; 1 John 2:28]
Commentary on Surah 4:159: (There is not one of the People of the Scripture) the Jews and Christians (but will believe in him) in Jesus, that he was not a sorcerer, Allah, His son or His partner (before his death) after the soul of Jesus expires, that is after he comes down again and then dies after every single Jew in their time, (and on the Day of Resurrection he) Jesus (will be a witness against them) through delivery of the message. Note: These twelve reasons do not preclude from God raising up a person who will vigorously learn, present and defend the Gospel of Christ. But these reasons simply mean that a messenger who bears another gospel or manifests another spirit or lives out another behavior than Christ-likeness has not been sent by God. Carefully note that each one who rejects the Word of God and does "that which is right in our own eyes" rejects God. (1 Sam 15:22-26; Mat 7:13-14; 2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:20-21) The Gospel message is one of salvation from sin and a new life in Christ. It was promised in the Old Testament, spoken by Jesus Christ and taught to the Apostles, disciples and early church. They, and us in turn, were to plant, build and grow Christ's church throughout the world, and "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it". (Matt 16:18)
Resolved:
That the the message of Muhammad as presented in the Qur'an is a false Gospel. It denies the sacrificial death of Jesus and asserts that Jesus Christ is not the saviour. (Surah 19:30-31) The Qur'an claims Jesus is only a messenger pointing to Muhammad. (Surah 61:6; 33:40). Muhammad asserts a low Christology, that Jesus is simply created human (Surah 3:59; 4:171; 22:73; 5:110, 116), and is only a prophet, but not divine. (Surah 5:72-75)
Jesus Christ came from God, spent His efforts to preach the kingdom of God, raised up and taught faithful disciples and apostles, and died on the cross and rose again for us. Then He commissioned his disciples and apostles to help build His church. We should labor like them. (John 1:1-14; 8:2; Matt 4:17; 10:7; 28:18-20; Mark 9:31; 16:15; Rom 5:8; 8:34; 2 Cor 5:14; 1 Thes 5:10)
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Jude 1:24-25
