Apostle John asserts, "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world." (1 John 4:14) and Apostle Paul states, "that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" (1 Timothy 1:15) while Jesus himself claims, "for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice" (John 18:37)

Jesus claimed, "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." (John 6:51); and "Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me." (John 8:42); and again "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:22-24)

In John 10:34-37 "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, 'Thou blasphemest'; because I said, I am the Son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not." In John 16:28 Jesus explains, "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

Here we examine the origin and basis of these claims. Are they indeed, "Good News!"?

God created man in His image but Man Sinned and was punished. God took a single couple on a Journey of Preparation toward the day when God Brings Forth a Savior. Jesus' Life Fulfilled Prophecy and was purposeful, even unto His death for our sins. The Resurrection & Offer of a New Life brings certainty to His claims and transformed disciples and innumerable people unto this day. The scriptures show us the Basis of God's Judgment upon all men and their need to Believe God's word and be saved.

Psalm 103:14 For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

C.  Man given duty

1. Man is established as family leader for he is created first in Gen 2:7.

2. And before woman was created he (man) was given a duty in Gen 2:8 & 15.

a. That duty was general:

1). to explore, develop, use the earth and all that is in it, and much more - "subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

2). to marry, produce children and teach them to obey God, and then send them forth to do the same duties God gave to the first man - "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth."

b. And specific: That each man is given purpose to carry out specific to him and his abilities. (Gen 4:2, 20-22, 6:14, Ex 35:33-35, Ex 36:8, 1 Chr 22:15, 2 Chr 26:14-15, Mat 25:15, 1 Pe 4:11)

D.  Holds man accountable

1. The freedom to eat fruit of all trees of the garden except one. (Ge 2:16)

2. The duty of restraint to not eat fruit of one tree. (Ge 2:17)

3. Mankind is to recognize from where he came. (Ge 3:8-10)

4. Man violated these boundaries. (Ge 3:17-19)

4. Death and its processes came from man's active choice to disobey God. (Ge 3:19)

II.  Man Sinned

A.  Examination by God

Genesis 3:8-11 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

B.  Confession by man and woman

Genesis 3:12-13 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

1. Guilty by their own deeds.

2. Guilty by violating their own standards.

3. Guilty by their thoughts expressed in words.

4. None are without sin.

1. Romans 2:11-16 For there is no respect of persons with God. John 1:10-14 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. B.  The Living Savior

A. The truth of the resurrection is the very content of the Christian message of salvation.

1. Supposing Jesus survived the events, how would Jesus' disciples be inspired to follow Him as Lord of life when He was scourged, crucified with shoulders dislocated, wrists and feet nailed, and in such pathetic condition without a supernatural resurrection and healing of His body?

2. The rapid growth of the Christian church was accomplished by telling others about the evidence supporting that Jesus is the Christ.

3. Is it possible that the original community of believers at Jerusalem could have been completely uninterested in the tomb where Jesus was laid after his death unless he was NOT there?

B. This was stated in Old Testament prophecy long before it occured and Jesus also told his disciples about His coming rejection, crucifixion, and resurrection during His last several weeks of life!

VII.  Basis of God's Judgment

The Bible promises a final judgment of all mankind:

John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son.

Acts 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Romans 1:32- 2:3 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whosoever you art that judges: for wherein thou judges another, you condemn yourself; for you that judges do the same things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And think you this, O man, that judges them which do such things, and does the same, that you shalt escape the judgment of God?

For God to be God there is only one standard of moral right-doing and everyone who violates this is guilty, so we stand condemned under His law of moral right-doing. Those who reject God's standard and assert their ability to establish moral law themselves have the obligation to completely fulfill the application of their own standard in every one of life's situations to claim moral right-doing. God will take their 'personal standard' and use it to condemn them "in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ" because they do not keep inviolate their 'personal standard' due to human selfishness. Either way man is condemned and needs a solution to his immorality. He needs a way to be declared morally upright and to be restored to a position of acceptance with the Creator.

Mark 7:20-23 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: all these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Romans 2:21-23 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

2 Timothy 3:2-5 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Romans 3:11-20 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Romans 2:4-6 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds.

There is no solution or release from the certainty of our condemnation except by substitution. That is by someone standing in our place in the day of judgment who is already approved. Our hope, then, is in one — Jesus Christ — who will not fail to measure up to God's moral right-doing, and our confidence will be bolstered since he has already been approved by being raised from the dead. Now, the Apostle does not leave us without hope in the day of judgment but presents to us these words of comfort in Romans 3:21-26:

"But now the righteousness of God (holding to an eternal standard) without (outside of) the law (of Moses given to Israel) is manifested, being witnessed (testified) by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God which is (obtained) by faith (in the sinless life, substitutionary death and resurrection) of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference (between Israel and Gentiles): For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified (declared free from sin) freely by his grace (freely offered to all who accept it) through the redemption (God initiated, arranged for, and agreed to accept) that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation (satisfaction for sin's penalty) through faith in his blood (in his sinless life and sacrificial death), to declare his (God's) righteousness for the remission (release from all claims) of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just (exact the penalty for sin), and the justifier (accept the substitution of Jesus Christ on behalf) of him which believeth in Jesus."

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9


We affirm that repentance for past and present sins requires a confession before God, that faith in Jesus' sacrificial death and resurrection to remove those sins involves a crying out for mercy and a calling on the Lord along with a faithful trust in Him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Matthew 24:12-13
